Over the past few weeks, our graduating class worked tirelessly on organizing and fundraising for our upcoming trip. We have finished booking our accommodations and flights, and we are excited to visit these mine operations:

  • El Teniente – Codelco’s largest underground copper mine operation with over 3000 kilometers of drifts developed
  • Andina – open-pit and block cave copper mine operation owned Codelco; it is situated in the Andes mountains
  • Centinela – massive open-pit copper mine owned by Antofagasta; recently merged from two mining operations
  • Chuquicamata – second deepest open-pit copper mine in the world; it is next to a ghost town
  • Sierra Gorda – recently commissioned copper mine owned by KGHM; its water supply is brought from the coast through a 140 kilometer pipeline

Our detailed itinerary is as follows:

We would also like to thank our 22 corporate sponsors for their generous contribution to our trip. If you would like to learn more about this trip or would like to make a donation please visit our webpage.
